Hello,

I'm Daniel Cassar, one of the candidates for the next Chief Commissioner of the Scout Association of Malta.

With 25 years of experience in Scouting — from Cub to Skipper, to Commissioner — I’ve walked alongside this movement through growth, challenges, and transformation.

This space is part of my personal campaign to share my story, my vision, and my love for Scouting.

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing two video episodes per week, each filmed outdoors as I reflect on key moments in my journey, the ideas that shaped me, and the aspirations I hold for the future of Scouting. You’ll also hear from fellow Scouts and volunteers I’ve worked with over the years, through testimonials that highlight the connections and impact we’ve built together.

It’s not just about my campaign – it’s about starting a conversation about what we can build, together.

In this short video, I share who I am, the values that guide me, and why I’m stepping forward to serve as Chief Commissioner. It’s a message about vision, service, and building the future of Scouting — together.

Let’s Dive Deeper

From Cub to Skipper to Commissioner — this episode reflects on the milestones, lessons, and experiences that shaped my 25-year journey in the Movement.

A look back at my time with the Żejtun Scout Group — what we built together, and how Group-level leadership influenced how I lead today.

This episode explains how I moved from sectional work to national roles, and how I approached those first months as Youth and Development Commissioner.

I share the story of how the Mountaineer Award was created, what problem it aimed to solve, and why involving Group leaders was key to its success.

Building the Youth Programme team from scratch — how we developed a mission, and how KPIs were introduced — not to add pressure, but to give clarity and shared direction.

In this episode, I talk about the structure, succession planning and culture that helped the team grow from 6 to 21.

A personal reflection on building for the future while honouring the past — including how we handled transitions and losses along the way.

The Youth Awards Ceremony: why it matters, how it started, and what recognition can do for motivation, belonging, and growth.

How my work in HR and organisational psychology connects to my role in Scouting — and how it’s helped me support people, systems, and culture.

What does it mean to be future-ready and deeply human? Here I introduce my vision for the Scout Association and what I hope it will inspire.

This is the "why" behind my candidacy — why now, why this role, and what I feel I can offer at this stage in our journey.

A closing message to Scouts and volunteers — not just about me, but about what we can create if we work together, with clarity and heart.
