About

I’m Daniel Cassar, and I’ve been part of the Scout Movement for the past 25 years — ever since I first joined as a Cub. Like many others, I stayed because Scouting gave me something more than just activities or uniforms. It gave me a sense of purpose, lifelong friendships, and the opportunity to grow. Over the years, I moved through the sections, eventually becoming Skipper of the Żejtun Scout Group — a role I held for 12 years while also serving at a national level.

Nationally, I started off as Assistant to the Troop Commissioner, then moved on to become Troop Commissioner myself, and eventually took on my current role as Youth and Development Commissioner. Along the way, I’ve been involved in some meaningful projects — from creating The Mountaineer Award to introducing the Youth Awards Ceremony, which gives our young members a well-deserved moment in the spotlight. What I’m most proud of, though, is how we’ve built a team culture that values accountability, inclusion, and leadership at every level.

When I first took on the role of Youth and Development Commissioner, there was no handbook. No structure. Just a team and a title. So we started small: meeting monthly, setting simple goals, and creating opportunities for new voices to get involved. That team of six is now a team of over twenty — with younger leaders already stepping into new roles thanks to a clear focus on mentorship and succession planning.

Professionally, I work as an Organisational Psychology Practitioner, HR Manager, and founder of Endeavour, where I partner with organisations to build stronger people systems and leadership cultures. I also host the GROWTH Schema podcast, where I explore human development, purpose, and reflective leadership. All of this feeds back into how I see Scouting: as a movement that shapes people, not just programmes.

This campaign isn’t just about stepping into a new role. It’s about building on what we’ve started — making Scouting even more relevant, more intentional, and more human for the next generation.
